My Story

As the Treehouse founder and Educational Doula, I have 15 years of experience working with children from birth-3rd grade. I am passionate about working with families and schools to best support a child’s needs in their everyday life. I taught Early Childhood Education and Special Education in Vermont, New York City, Washington D.C. and Alexandria, Virginia. Most recently, I worked as the Developmental Educator at a pediatric therapy center in Northern Virginia. My breadth of experience ranges from extensive training in the Reggio-Emilia Approach to supporting students with developmental delays, ADHD and learning disabilities. I have a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Vermont and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Special Education from the University of Virginia. I currently live in Arlington, Virginia with my husband and two young boys.

What is an Educational Doula?
It's a freshly coined title created by yours truly. It is an individual who works closely with families to guide, support, and advise as they navigate the challenges in their child's development in the home and at school.

My mission to provide support, guidance, and advice to families and schools who are struggling never seemed to align with a title like "consultant" or "coach." Neither encapsulated the importance of the relationship and community when partnering to navigate challenges of raising, advocating for, and supporting young children.

Each time I would describe my goals for Treehouse, I always went back to, "Like a doula, but for families and schools," and was always met with an "Aha!" from others. Hence, the story of how Educational Doula came to be.
